Welcome to the home of the West Texas Linux Users Group home-page. The purpose of this web site is to educate the general public, as well as gurus, the Linux Operating System. The West-Texas-Linux-Users-Group (WTLUG) was founded in the summer of 1998. As young as the LUG is, we have many accomplished Linux users among us. The group was initially founded by "Rogue Squadron" of Hardin-Simmons University on the basis of the growing need for education in the computer community about the Linux operating system. In the few months of the WTLUG's existance, it has gained support from influences within the community such as Leapfrog Technolgies, LLC., and McMurry University. The WTLUG would like to thank all of it's supporters and everyone else in the world who is making the Linux OS gain precedence in the ever-growing computer community.
Currently the meetings will be held monthly. The date, time, and location of the meeting will be annouced via email through the Announce mailing list. Activities at the meeting include discussions on topics such as: Software development, current Linux news, and the future of the Linux OS and where it is headed. The meetings also include activites such as demonstrations of new/old software for the Linux OS, Networking solutions with Linux, and Installation demonstrations of different distributions of the OS.
The WTLUG would like to welcome anyone to become a member of our organization. We would also like to remind everyone, that just like the source, membership is free too. Please subscribe to our announce/discussion lists and get a taste of what the WTLUG is all about. Lets all come together as a collective and knock-out the commercial beasts that haunt the computer-community, and commercial solutions.
